In about 24 hours, I will depart for my Rotary year in San Salvador! I can't believe it... the time has flown.
On Tuesday morning, I will leave Greensboro, eat a light breakfast in Miami, then arrive in Comalapa International Airport in El Salvador at about 2:00 p.m. Just enough time to get settled in for the day and grab my first pupusa salvadoreña! Pupusas are a mouthwatering Salvadoran dish... thick, hand-pressed corn tortillas stuffed with beans, cheese, and anything else you could get creative with. ¡¡Que rico!!
Spanish has gotten a bit rusty this year, but I'm sure the re-learning curve will be exponential. I'll be moving into una habitación (a room) en un alojamiento (lodging-- in this case, a type of boarding house) with other foreign exchange students. I'll be about half a mile from the Universidad Centroamericana "José Simeon Cañas" in Antiguo Cuscatlán where I'll start classes on Thursday, March 10th.
Just a reminder, my e-mail is emily.scott.robinson@gmail.com and my Skype is emily.scott.robinson!
Ciao! I'll check in from the tropics soon.
Love,
Emily
Best to everyone! The next time I post will be from San Salvador.
